Bab Al Shams, which means Sun Gate in Arabic, is a hotel located in the middle of the desert of the Emirates.
It is about 40 minutes by car from the centre of Dubai but is well worth the detour. Perfect for sipping a cocktail or a Moroccan tea in their lounge, Al Sarab, at sunset. The place is soothing and its horizon is marvellous. Live singers rock the place, a camel ride and to see a falcon hunting is possible some days. Every Thursday evening at 9pm, fireworks light up the sky of Bab al Shams.Count about 28.00 $/pers for a drink with a snack and 49.00 $/person minimum to spend the weekend. At the same hotel, a restaurant, named Al Hadeerah, opens its doors every evening to visitors (reservation here). It consists of 14 stands of different dishes and is open-air, perfect for admiring the stars. The meal is accompanied by songs, oriental dances and traditional Emirati dances.
